My week in Instagram

This week was a week of wine tasting and enjoying the last of the summer weather. I also made quite a few trips out to our wineries and checked out harvest and crush in action

Fermenting grapes and big tanks at deLorimier winery

Aw.. this is what I get to fall asleep/wake up to :)

I totally took all these from a harvest dinner so I could decorate the Inn. The Great Pumpkin Heist of 2012. They’ll totally make a movie.

Well.. I’m certainly not doing too well in Blogtoberfest. I’ve already missed two days!

I will catch up. I will catch up. That will be my mantra. I’ll be like the little blogger that could.

Anyways, back to our scheduled programming – my week+ in instagram.

I made an early morning trip up to one of our wineries – the view was stunning as was the ‘tree tunnel’.

You know it’s harvest time in wine country when traffic is caused by tractors!

Mmm.. peanut butter banana bread pudding. People went crazy for it!

A creepy face in my ice water at the bar.

San Francisco was alerting me to the fact that it has hills. This was at the top of a hill that is so steep, you hope there will be road in front of you.

Anyone willing to guest post anytime in the next 5 months? I won’t have easy access to internet so my postings will be pretty spare.. You can write about anything you like! I would so really appreciate it :) Email me if you do! sydney (dot) wilson (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks in advance!

This week has been a bit hectic, mostly as we had my goodbye party at work and (more) guests arrive. All I want to do is sleep and nurse my horrible cold… Basically, I took no pictures. Instead, I chose to relanx and enjoy myself, not be the big snapper :) This is from our boat cruise from Westminster to Richmond.

It’s a gorgeous trip and I’d totally recommend it to anyone in London :)

We have been super busy – we’ve had guests every weekend for the past 3 weeks (and have a friend staying tonight and another couple coming on Wednesday for the weekend..) and I am leaving next Tuesday! So much to do and no time to do it… That’s the way it is for everyone, right?

Last week, friends and their 2 kids came and stayed with us and we did a little boat cruise down the Thames from Westminster to Greenwich – I’d highly recommend it to anyone. It’s a great way to see London, without dealing with London crowds. We were thinking of going and seeing the Cutty Sark but prices are a bit ridic for people of modest means… instead I just took some pictures! I do want to go at some point.

We also spent a morning walking around Crystal Palace Park. I love that such a wonderful, historical park is pretty much right on my doorstep. And no London crowds.

This weekend, another couple came down from Stoke-on-Trent and we spent Saturday Boris biking it around the city. If people have never used the Boris bikes, I totally recommend it! They’re amazing! We went all over – starting at Borough Market, walking to Monument, cycling to Spitalfields via The City. Taking pictures of Leadenhall Market, Lloyds and the Gherkin. Coasting with our legs sticking straight out. Going up Brick Lane and smelling the amazing mixture of curry and bagels. Down Old Street and the terrifying roundabouts, through Clerkenwell to Holborn where we stopped at the AMAZING Princess Louise pub. I must take my dad here.

It’s been a great few weeks and while I am exhausted, I am so excited to see my friends this week!

My week in Instagram

Busy week – lots of doctors appointments (getting everything in order before I leave the country for so long!), lots of rain, a fair amount of sewing, and a visit from Gavin’s parents.

This is the church across the road from our house.. It’s really pretty (inside too – we went to concert inside!) and the sun had come out for about 2 minutes as I walked by. The bluebells are from a garden on my way to the train station.

Soho on Friday with very threatening clouds (left) and today from work’s roof terrace with sun (right)! Not a raincloud in sight and temps up to 18! Hooray!

My friend Jess challenged me to a “photos from a train window” contest. These are a selection of mine. Her photo stream is here.

My week in Instagram

Monday? Again? Weekends go far too quickly don’t they? Our week was both busy yet non-eventful.. Little oxymoronic? Yeah, welcome to my life!

The odd weather continues (rain, rain and more rain!) which led to more photos of dramatic Battersea photos – the station itself as well as the platform.

I also finished a quilt! It’s my second quilt ever and my first full-(ish) one too! It’s about 1.5m/5ft square and I am so so happy with it! Proper pictures coming as soon as I bring my camera chip back home from the office..

Last Wednesday was Digital Switchover night in Crystal Palace, well, all of London actually… We were treated to a “laser light show” from the transmitter with David Attenborough, Brian Cox, and Chris Evans (but they were all in the VIP tent, we were not). But, the laser show was less than exciting so we went to the pub and had a burger.. mmm. We and the people around us were laughing about how English the whole affair was – we were standing in freezing drizzle, the show was 20 minutes late and it was pretty underwhelming. Good times though :)

My week in Instagram

I guess I should say my two and a half weeks in Instagram.. With last Monday being a holiday and us having no internet(!!), scheduled posting was delayed. Now that the Virgin has decided to honor my payments and allow me to have internet again.

Our Easter was really nice – having the four days off was amazing. We have had a friend staying with us until she moves into her flat (tomorrow!) so we went out a few nights and we went to Cambridge on Saturday. Cambridge was stunning and the whole time I kept thinking I was in Harry Potter. Beautiful. I could move there in a heartbeat. On Sunday, we had Gavin’s perfectly cooked soft-boiled eggs with homemade spelt bread for breakfast. For dinner we had ham/gammon, new potatoes and purple sprouting broccoli with some chocolate for dessert – it was Easter after all ;)

The weather here has certainly turned from the warm summer-like temps we had to cold, grey and rainy. I can’t complain too much though because we are in a drought. And they made for some glorious pictures and some great sewing time :)

My Instagram photo a day challenge – week 3

Happy Monday all! This weekend was the first “real” spring weekend – sunny days with a hint of chill in the breeze AND Sunday was the first day of British Summer Time (BST baby!). Gavin and I spent Saturday walking around our neighborhood, had lunch in one of locals, went antiquing, then on Sunday we went to the park and had ciders in the sun before heading to yet another one of our locals to have a guinea hen terrine with blackberry preserves – amazing. We watched the first episode of Titanic – is that out in the US as well? – ate sausages and the seasons first purple sprouting broccoli! It really is spring!

Here’s week 3 of Fat Mum Slim’s March Photo a Day Challenge. This week’s was good but I got distracted over the weekend due to all the fabulous weather. I also had to cheat just a little bit and I took tomorrow’s photo (my name).. I needed 9 photos! I didn’t think this through well enough!

See last weeks photos here and the first week’s photos here.
