Today was hot in Healdsburg. I mean this is the thermometer on my parent’s back deck in the shade at 5.30 this evening.
It’s pretty warm, and I LOVE IT!!
I did what any normal person does and I walked into town. There is a great little fabric store right on our main square. I may have purchased a thing or two. Supporting the local economy and small businesses is what I call it..
Just one or two fabrics including Kaffe Fasset and some Alexander Henry! Yay! I love them all! I mean look at that little animal family – so cute!
They are all 1/2 yard cuts which makes me pretty happy. And don’t the colors just play so well together? Now I need to borrow a sewing machine so I can actually do more than stare and stroke…
And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to have a glass of white wine by the pool!
What happens when you combine bald men and water balloons? Water wigs. Awesome.
I know politics can be touchy but I enjoy them and I believe in civil discourse. This article highlights one of the many reasons health care needs to be overhauled and attitudes need to change in the US.
And to lighten the mood, I present to you, the cast of Mad Men performing the Rick Astley classic, Never Gonna Give You Up:
Today marks the first day of Blogtoberfest 2012, which I participated in last year. To the un-initiated, I will just be posting every day this month. Which means that with my non-existent free time, I’ll be writing away to make sure that my creative juices are flowing.
I guess I could give a little recap as it’s been a while since I’ve been blogging regularly. I have submitted my visa to the UK, all 3 pounds 11 ounces of it, and now it will be approximately 41 business days until they make a decision. Joy of joys.
In the meantime, I am living in my parent’s basement (not nearly as dire as it sounds) and working as an innkeeper at Calderwood Inn, a bed and breakfast in Healdsburg, California. It’s great fun, but I have a feeling I’ll have a little burn out working 7 days a week from 7:30am to 6:30pm! Oh well, at least I can pay rent on my flat in London as well as save some.
So that’s where I am now. Hopefully, the stars will align and the gods will be kind, and I’ll have more information about the status of my immigration by the time Blogtoberfest is over!
